Savka HouseUkraine has a rich cultural heritage as reflected, for example, by the UNESCO World Heritage site "Saint-Sophia Cathedral and Related Monastic Buildings" in the historic center of Kiev. The cathedral shows central characteristics of the early 11th century and was designed by leading Byzantine masters. The cathedral's interior is particularly famous for its unique collection of mosaics and frescoes. The site is complemented by the Monastic Complex of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra with the Church of the Savior at Berestovo. Another famous UNESCO World Heritage site is the "Ensemble of the Historic Center" in Lviv, where buildings and ancient street patterns illustrate Lviv's history with its diverse ethnic and religious influences. However, there is far more to explore. Ukraine has a similarly rich rural cultural heritage as well which can be explored, for example in the «Savka House». The «Savka House» is a museum of Ukrainian rural cultural heritage, established in a traditional Ukrainian farm house made of clay and covered with straw. The exhibitions there give an impression of artworks and living conditions on the countryside throughout the past centuries. The museum als informs about the measures taken by the government that aim to preserve Ukraine's manifold natural and cultural heritage for future generations.
